Do-it-yourself (DIY) sensors for the Internet of Things (IoT).

Physical parameters such as soil moisture, atmospheric pressure and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) give important information for agriculture/ gardening, safety and environmental monitoring. The MeteoMex project develops open hardware/ software kits that are IoT capable and of low cost.

MeteoMex aeria

The MeteoMex aeria is an IoT capable weather station. Additionally to atmospheric pressure, relative humidity and air temperature, the (indoor) air quality can be monitored with a volatile organic compounds (VOCs) sensor.

The kit has the following features:

  • Printed Circuit Board (PCB).
  • BME280 sensor for measuring atmospheric pressure/ relative humidity/ air temperature.
  • Optional: CCS811 sensor for measuring volatile organic compounds.
  • Wemos D1 R1 mini with WiFi for control and communication. Programmable with USB/ Arduino IDE.
  • Power from USB or battery.
  • Continuous operation or energy-saving mode (Deep Sleep/ Wake Up).
